No trial versions or anything like that, just plain old free. Since internet security should be top priority for you and your computer, I will give you some of the free internet security programs out there for your use.

Let’s start with anti-virus software. If you are not using any right now, what are you thinking? This is the first line of defense to fend off any of the viruses that come through your email, or any other program you may download. There are plenty of paid services out there, but for top quality software, I recommend getting Avast Anti-Virus Software. It is awesome. It has caught every potential threat trying to get into my computer in the last year. And the best part is it is free. It also updates itself each day automatically for you, so no need to worry about out of date protection.

Next, you need anti-spyware protection. With all of the surfing on the internet we do, there are always websites out there dropping cookies and other programs on our computer. And the worst part is, you will never know. You need to get rid of these. One of the free softwares I use for this is called SuperAntiSpyware. This program is very simple to install and begin using. It will definitely help keep your computer cleaned up and running smooth.

Third, you will also need a firewall. There are plenty of firewalls out there, with the most popular being ZoneAlarm. My issue with ZoneAlarm is how slow it makes my internet surfing. They made a change to their software about 2 years ago, which is also when I made my change. My surfing was so slow. I now use the regular Microsoft Windows firewall. You can set it to where it asks permission for all of the connections outgoing and incoming from the get go. This will help get your settings all correct. And, it is free and works just as good as the rest of them.

Lastly, you need registry repair software. I use a free one for people that just need a basic repair. It does not fix all of the errors. I ran a test against a paid professional version. The free one found 39 errors, and the other professional version found over 500 errors. But if you don’t want to spend the money, then you can get one called Eusing Registry Software. Very good, and does a decent job. And, once again, it is free.
