How to Screenshot on a Mac
Taking a screenshot on a Mac is simple and can be done using built-in keyboard shortcuts. Here’s how:
1. Capture Entire Screen:
Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 3 simultaneously.
You’ll hear a camera shutter sound, and the screenshot will be saved as a file on your desktop by default.
2.Capture a Specific Area:
Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 4 simultaneously.
Your cursor will turn into a crosshair. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture.
Release the mouse button to take the screenshot. Again, you’ll hear a camera shutter sound, and the screenshot will be saved on your desktop.
3. Capture a Specific Window:
Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 4 + Spacebar simultaneously.
Your cursor will turn into a camera icon. Move the camera icon over the window you want to capture (it will be highlighted in blue).
Click on the window to take the screenshot. Once more, you’ll hear a camera shutter sound, and the screenshot will be saved on your desktop.
After taking a screenshot, you can find it on your desktop labeled with the date and time it was captured. Additionally, if you’re using macOS Mojave or later, you’ll see a thumbnail of the screenshot appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. You can click on the thumbnail to edit or share the screenshot right away.
